Let’s be honest, life is not easy. Work deadlines? Stress. Family drama? Double stress. And don’t even get me started on Lagos traffic—it’s like a bonus level in the game of stress! But here’s the thing. Your body was not created to keep running non-stop. Even your phone dies when you don’t charge it, so why are you acting like you’ve got superpowers? – Or is there something you are not sharing?
Jesus literally said, “Come to me, all you who are tired and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Basically, He’s like, “Omo, come and drop that wahala here. I’ve got you covered.”
Resting isn’t just about lying down (although, please, lie down o). It’s about giving your mind, body, and spirit a chance to reset. Think of rest as plugging into God’s divine Kanji dam.
Practical tips to recharge based on personal routine-
1. Take 15 minutes to just be still today. Turn off your phone notifications, play your fave worship song, and just breathe.
2. Journaling is another underrated recharge technique. write out your thoughts, prayers, or even random rants. God is listening.
Also, try Take a proper nap, abeg. “You seff, you Dan try” and God won’t send an angel to wake you up to “do more work.”
See, Let me tell you something Ehn; Resting doesn’t make you lazy, it makes you wise. Even God Himself chilled on the seventh day after creation (Genesis 2:2).
So, why are you working like you have to save the world?
Spoiler alert: Jesus already did that for you.
This week, give yourself permission to rest—physically, mentally, spiritually. You’ll wake up fresher, happier, and ready to conquer the world again. (But for now, please, go and rest!)
